Cold and Freezer Room

Cold storage refrigeration and freezing rooms on a marine vessel are classified as areas where very low temperatures are present. These rooms are used for storage of food and drink, which means the correct design of luminaire is critical to ensure easy cleaning and washdowns that help prevent impurities or contamination of food.

High protection lighting

Temperatures in cold storage, refrigeration and freezing rooms on marine vessels can drop to as low as -40°C. It is therefore critical that the lighting solutions installed in these areas are carefully selected to operate reliably at these temperatures.

When using brushes, pipes and sometimes high-pressure cleaners, the luminaires in a cold room refrigeration system or freezer unit must have a high ingress protection (IP) rating to withstand these high pressures. We therefore recommend the use of IP66/67 LED lighting in a cold room refrigeration or freezer storage area.
