Computer simulations are programs that attempt to simulate an abstract model of a particular system or product. Computer simulations have become a useful part of mathematical modelling of many natural systems in physics, chemistry, economics and engineering. They are utilised to explore and gain new insights into new technology, and to estimate the performance of the components of a new product while it is in the early planning stages.
The importance of optics
When developing a new luminaire, the careful calculation of the functioning of reflectors and diffusers are essential for each product’s efficacy, i.e. how much light is being emitted from the luminaire in relation to its total power consumption. Light data simulations help us determine the best solutions in developing the most energy-efficient solutions.
A great many of our lighting products are available with a choice of diffusers that serve various purposes and are made of materials such as opal or microprismatic acrylic, glass or aluminium. Optical computer simulations allow us to predetermine the effect of various diffusers while the luminaire is still only on the drawing board.
Optical simulations
Optical computer simulations help determine the exact shape and positioning of reflectors and other optical components in our luminaires.
